Just Gettin’ Warmed Up

Appreciate your audience. Accept compliments even when you think you haven’t done your absolute perfectionist best. Say “Thank you.” Your supporters support you– warmed up or not. Doing it better next time is for your benefit, and for the benefit of your own personal artistic excellence. Continue to strive for excellence, but remember to not discount the appreciation of your audience. Allow them to come along for the ride as witnesses to your improvement.

Art is subjective. First and foremost you are here to entertain. If you accomplish that-and at the same time reach your definition of excellence-then, congratulations! You’ve just: captured a unicorn, reached the end of the universe, seen the face of God!
